    Fuel Additives

For years I've always added a can or SeaFoam to the tank in several of my cars thinking it helps in the long run. I know the spray in the induction does in fact work very well but never sure about anything in the tank. So based on several internet forums (Has to be true :) ) I tried the...

    OEM sensors vs aftermarket sensors

I just went through this while fixing a Jeep Patriot and found continuing codes after using and replacing various sensors several times. After going to the local dealership the service manager said don't ever use aftermarket sensors on these Patriots because the computers will often not...

Every time a fellow member has a problem with their YJ my YJ seems to do the same thing!

My YJ normally runs fine without any trouble. Enough to say it's normally dependable. But lately, every time a fellow member here has a unique problem it seems like my YJ ends up having the same problem within the same week. Maybe it's sun spots or solar radiation, I don't know. Last week...

    Fuel tank issues and fixes

This is round two for having my fuel tank out and here's one fix I didn't mention before. First off, and current problem, I found the plastic float has fuel inside it. I'm looking for just a new float but can't locate one for the YJ. There's plenty out there for the CJ but comments say it...

Anyone use noise cancelling earbuds while driving?

I don't care too much about listening to music, just trying to cut down on the noise with half doors and dump trucks passing by. I do have an android phone though I might connect to.

2.4 New Belt Squeak / Squeal

I recently installed a new harmonic damper and a new serpentine belt because the old belt was squealing for a few seconds after startup and had a few cracks in the ribs. So I tightened the new belt to what I thought was about right and it started squealing the entire time from idle to 4000 rpm...

    New Harmonic Balancer

I seemed to have picked up a strange engine vibration at idle which I first noticed about 500 miles ago. I couldn't tell if it was getting worse or not but it was annoying enough, when stopped at a traffic light, that I wanted to look into it. Today I changed the dampener with the Dorman...

    Jeep Patriot suspension

Spent a few hours on Labor Day pulling out the left and right side front suspension parts and getting new items on order. The new struts are in and waiting on the inner and outer tie rods, lower swing arm with ball joint, and sway bar bushings and links to arrive. So far it's been pretty easy.

    Door Hinge Plate

I bought a pair of full doors in good condition but two of the torx bolts on one hinge are broken off. Can the locking plate on the inside be easily removed or is it held in place by some brackets? My life will be easier if it comes out quickly.

Fresh air vent door not opening

No AC in my YJ and when I slide the top lever to the VENT position I found the vent door doesn't open. The FSM shows that door is actuated by a vacuum motor and cable. Two cables for the Defrost/Heat and Cool/Warm are working properly now that I pop riveted the small bracket back onto the air...

    Fender liners and splash guards

During the restoration of my 92 YJ I removed all the torn and broken rubber/plastic wheel liners and splash guards underneath the engine which were holding buckets of dried mud behind them. I've sprayed undercoating over 75% of the area underneath to protect it. Has anyone replaces all those...

    Rancho shock mounting question

All suppliers of the Rancho RS500X say I will need these for the rear shocks NON-STANDARD QUALIFIER: Requires Aftermarket Shock Adapter Bracket Can anyone identify just what this adapter bracket is of what it does? For the upper or lower mount? I know the Rancho shock tubes have a wider...

Rear sway bar removal grumble grumble

More of a rant than anything. I'll be installing a new exhaust system and shocks and the way the tailpipe crosses over the sway bar it looks like my only option is to remove the bar and quickly get the exhaust in place. I don't have any lift kit so the space is pretty tight and I simply cut...

    Safe Wheel Cribs

I don't own a car lift and try not to ever get underneath any car sitting only on jack stands so I built these wheel cribs out of a few 2x4's cut and glued and screwed them together. They measure 20in x 12in and can be built as high as you need. Very sturdy, much safer, and makes life (on your...

15-20 Gallon Fuel Tank Slosh Box Warped

I've had a problem with my fuel gauge sticking in different places and have read about the poly slosh box inside the OEM gas tank warping which causes the sending unit float arm to rub or get hung up. I had previously tested the gauge and it works as it should so the problem is at the other end...

    Air Compressor Safety

I found this in a forum unrelated to Jeeps, the guy posted it after his friend was seriously injured during a similar circumstance. It got me looking at my 25 year old Craftsman 25 gallon compressor and I too found lots of rust on the outside and around the welded seams. I can't imagine what...
