    Gearbox oil

Well, I like to think that I'm not a dummy, but I was a Marine for a while and now a firefighter/paramedic. I'm not sure if eating crayons and running into burning houses is too smart. I use those schedules, both severe and "normal" as a baseline and adjust as I see fit or as my oil analysis...

    Gearbox oil

Factory "B" service schedule, which is the severe duty schedule, calls for an 18k mile change. I do 12,000k on the YJ, and track the CJ2 via operating hours, The CJ2 isn't exactly a daily driver so it gets changed once a year. The XJ has an AW4 in it and I do a 10k change on that one, but the...

    Gearbox oil

44+ dollars a gallon isn't my idea of affordable, espeically if you have multiple gearboxes that need it. STALUBE used to be my go to when I could get it for 20 or less dollars a gallon. Then one day their price doubled and it's now along the same lines as what you mentioned...

    Gearbox oil

I use 10W40 usually, in both my AX5 and my old T90 CJ2 transmission. GL4 is getting pricey and harder to find. There are a few tractor gear box fluids that are supposed to be good to go and much cheaper than GL4 gear oil. But 10w40 works as well. I do shorten the change interval a bit just...

    Need Help Reinstalling Rear Driveshaft

Might be a worn trans mount causing the exhaust to rattle into the belly pan when in reverse. Might just be coincidence that it started when you changed the seal.

    Fuse box questions

To be sure you need to download the FSM and dig into the wiring diagrams. I'm fairly sure the green wire is the trigger wire for the starter but not positive.

In need of lift and tire advice

Wait you mean you expect me to read the WHOLE thread. Bah.

In need of lift and tire advice

My opinions- Body lifts suck. Period. With the 2.5L stick with stock or near stock tire sizes. Don't bother with lifts. If you want to put money into mods focus on traction aids and maybe some light armor such as some rock sliders, but don't go overboard, you'll run into weight issues.

    2.5 YJ charcoal canister question

I'm looking at a lot of charcoal canisters for 89 YJs right now, and I'm not seeing any connection like that on those. Could just be a drain or vent. Even looking at various vacuum line diagrams I see no mention of a line that would go there. Just the 4 on the top.

95 YJ grinding noise (2WD to 4HI while moving)

Typically, it's just a failed vacuum line or a line that popped loose somewhere, especially if you're lifted the vacuum harness that connects at the front axle will pop loose. Overall, the system is very simple with not a lot of stuff to fail. To me, it's not worth going posi lock just...

    Help with windshield frame hinges

Nope not impossible. I mean, the thought of removing the dash never even crossed my mind. The hardest part was trying to do that and work the ratchet on the outside at the same time, because I never have any help around here, lol.

    WTB: Factory YJ wheels

Looks like this place has them in stock. Not cheap though but I've bought a few things from this place like hubcaps and they always look nearly brand new when I get them. I'm guessing they do a bunch of resto work on them before selling them...

Yeah post up some more info for what's going on. Relays are pretty reliable and fairly standardized.

60 inches wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface for XJ/YJ/MJ/TJ/ZJ. WJs are 65 inches from wheel mount surface to wheel mount surface. I'm not sure if the TJ Rubi "D44s" were any wider or not.

I am new too! 95 Jurassic soon to be brought back to Sahara.

Ah gotcha, misread. Nah the M416s have leaf springs, same as CJ leaf springs of that era. My 2.5L struggles a bit with a full load in the trailer, but will do it. I'm sure the 4.0 would do just fine with 1100 lbs. I tow upwards of 4k with my XJ sometimes and it does fine as well. Just...

I am new too! 95 Jurassic soon to be brought back to Sahara.

That's an M416. They're 670 lbs empty. Max weight 1170 lbs off road 1370 on pavement. In the photo it's empty. I just wanted to see how well it pulled behind the YJ. I have pulled it loaded with logs but dont' have a confirmed weight for how much it weighed at the time. Wranglers are limited...

Ooof that looks like a lot of rust. I cringe to think about what's under the rocker panels. I assume the frame is alright? You certainly have a project from the rust/bodywork perspective.
