    Ventilation Overhaul

Some of the CJ5 and 7 HVAC parts will fit in the YJ. MTS Supply carries some stuff. The fresh air box hose is a bit of an odd shape but you can get creative with stuff from LOWEs.

    1992 YJ 4.0 overheating

A few options. Usually not overheating at idle, but overheating at speed is a water flow issue. Could be The pump is bad or has the wrong impeller on it. Your belt is routed improperly running the pump the wrong direction Stoppage in the block or head from sediment/mud build up Radiator...

Desperate is an understatement! No start issue

Fuel pressure testers are cheap. Really cheap. Get one. "Coming out like a fountain" doesn't indicate proper fuel pressure. Your no spark issue could be something entirely different. Have you checked the ASD (auto shutdown) relay?

I've gotten "new" remanned units that squeaked straight out of the box. They probably didn't bother to put new bearings in during the overhaul. I've had good luck with the new build ACDELCO units. They run right around 100 dollars and are 90 amp units. AC DELCO 90 AMP ALT 335-1181

What makes me love these Damn YJ's so much?

I've had XJs, YJ, 76 CJ5 and still have my 47-49 CJ2A (not sure on exact year it's a mutt as far as parts go and OG data plate is gone). Objectively speaking, each major step in Jeep models has been better, stock for stock comparing a modern Jeep JL to even a CJ5 or later model 7 is like...

My 95 XJ's block was still dark cast iron color when I swapped the water pump out 6 months ago. No rust. Distilled water with coolant concentrate. I change it once a year with new 50/50 coolant, and pull the overflow tank and drain it and clean the dirt out of the bottom of it. People tend...

That's what I did, though I started with an already intact harness. Took it down to my local Orileys and one of the more helpful counter guys spent 20 mins with me getting the materials together and building all the battery cables from scratch. Think it was about 60 bucks total.

    YJ wiring nightmare

Are these standard bulbs or LED? Have you checked out the flasher relay? What about the grounds as suggested above have you messed with those or replaced them at all? This really sounds like some kind of weird ground issue.

    YJ wiring nightmare

Chase the wires. The taillight wiring runs under the interior edge of the tub on the driver's side then though a grommet in the back driver's corner of the tub to the driver's side tail light then across the rear crossmember to the other light. Start inspecting from there and see what you...

    YJ wiring nightmare

As Gila mentioned. Start with your grounds, especially battery to engine and chassis grounds, your battery cables can look good on the outside but will be a tube of solid corrosion on the inside, if you don't know the last time the cables were replaced go ahead and do it. THere are good kits...

No idea. Given the amount of things painted on this Jeep, it's possible a previous owner painted the dash panel, but I haven't spotted any evidence for that. They could have swapped in a black panel.

Is this rust a purchase deal breaker?

Oiled gauze is such a garbage filter medium for what we use these things for. Either way that's quite a bit of rust for 7k.

Black dash in mine, the factory seats and belts were grey. The steeringwheel is missing it's cover so I assume it was grey or black. On my XJ the interior is tan and the steering wheel is black. IIRC when I scrounged up my NOS 95 XJ wheel it was around 300.

Seeking Guidance and Support as a New YJ Owner

How do you intend to use the YJ? Daily driver, weekend cruiser, off roader, do all things? As far as resources. I know Argentina has/had a really strong history in Jeeps. I know they were building XJs around the same time frame as the YJ. I'm not sure on the current relationship between...

Oh damn Rockwall is about 30 mins from me. I may need to swing by. My second 95 XJ wheel is coming apart. They were only put in Xjs for 95 and 96 model year and the spare parts train for that specific part is dried up.

I've bought a bit of MTS stuff. A fuel tank for my CJ2A and some various HVAC bits and pieces for my 76 CJ5. The parts worked but they weren't exact to factory by any means. The CJ2A tank was a gimme as the original was steel and this was their poly tank, but the HVAC pieces were close but...

    Gearbox oil

Funny, we mentioned water intrusion. I did a fluid change on the AX5 today, had obvious water contamination. A gallon of Shell 10W30 and she's good to go. Might have been left over water from when I power washed this salvage trans before install.
