1979 called, they want their communication device back

See above about signal clarity, range ect. But also it's the general direction the off road community as a whole is going.

1979 called, they want their communication device back

Correct. CB is really in the "HF" or "High Freqency" area, if the conditions are right you can talk 1000+ miles with CB but that's not a common thing that the average consumer is going to be doing. GMRS is the UHF or "Ultra High Frequency" Aussie "CB" is very similar to GMRS but with a...

1979 called, they want their communication device back

Smaller, less bulky equipment and antennas, FM vs AM signal so much nicer to listen to and understand, 50watts vs 4 watts of power in some circumstances. GMRS also interoperates wtih FRS radios so those with bubble pack radios from WALMART can still communicate. Also ability to access...

    Compression Question

I have a 95 which has port injection. I saw that post but didnt have the info to give you for the Renix TBI

    Compression Question

Agreed, i basically use it to confirm I HAVE pressure not necessarily an accurate one. My oil analysis always comes back good even with the amount of noise my poor little 2.5 makes.

    Compression Question

On the plus side, 1/4 way up the oil pressure gauge is 20 psi which is great at idle. FSM lists 13 psi as minimum pressure at idle. FWIW mine barely reads 5 PSI at idle :ROFLMAO: But that could just be a sender that's not quite in spec.

90 2.5 trouble going highway speeds

Go a little faster before changing into 5th gear. I'll cruise to work in my at 70-80 for almost an hour and only have to down shift on the longer hills and if I have a stiff headwind, but it's a pretty flat run from my house to work. As mentioned above, make sure you are actually getting all...

    Fuel Gauge Question

Again, we put too much faith in the gauges and senders. Even before I shortened my vent tube, it would read full at 15 gallons, now it just reads full longer lol.

    Fuel Gauge Question

You can do it with the tank in the Jeep. Took me about 20 minutes even with the old stuck on fuel hoses. It's really the vent hose not really the "overflow" tube. On Jeeps with the "15" gallon tank they still actually had 20 gallon tanks but they put an extended vent tube into them to limit...

    Fuel Gauge Question

You but too much faith in the accuracy of a factory fuel gauge, lol. I can go till it's under the E mark and still only put in 16-17 gallons on a 20 gallon tank. These are more like rough references and probably calibrated a bit to show lower than what's actually in the tank to help keep...

1994 Hunter Green SE “Back to Stock” Thread

I was about to ask if you could just grind or machine the step off the back of the hook but buying some aftermarket hooks and saving those for someone's rebuild might be better. I went with a 2-inch receiver on the front that has built in tow loops rated for a 9k pull. Thought I've been...

    Compression Question

By the manual, you shouldn't have more than 10 psi (I think may be 15 or something) difference between each cylinder, so technically bad, but I wouldn't think twice about getting numbers like that from an older engine. Those aren't so far off that I would expect poor running due to compression.

    The UTV thread?

I've noticed that most utility type SxS are that way. Which is weird you would think that since you don't really sit "in" them perse like performance SxS that they would be cooler but I guess since you're on top of the engine you get cooked. My suggestion. Get an old CJ2 or 3A. ;) has the...

Where are the good seats for cheap?

Yeah, you have to get their bracket. Add another 150 dollars or so to the cost of going to Corbeau. But At least I'm back at "normal" level. And it also eliminates the offset the factory brackets had.

Where are the good seats for cheap?

If you have the coin Wet Okele seat covers will buy you another year or more if you garage park it. I put them over some WJ seats I swapped into my XJ. They've held up well since 2018. I'm just now getting to the point I'm looking at replacing the seats again.

Where are the good seats for cheap?

My experience with most aftermarket seats is they have a lot of thigh bolstering and you usually wind up with the steering wheel rubbing your legs and your head almost touching the top. Also lower cost seats you WILL see accelerated side bolster wear just from getting in and out of them. I...

    WTB: 2.5 engine

Seems to be the 2.5 is a tiny bit more than a 4.0 in the reman area. He found one from a 95 with about 89k miles on it a few hours from his house (he lives in Alabama. Jeep is with me in Texas). He's going to see about picking it up soon.

    WTB: 2.5 engine

No joy cylinder one still at 30-40 psi. Tons of blowby. We're engine shopping. So if someone somewhat close to the DFW area has one let us know or what's the go to for remanned long blocks now?

    WTB: 2.5 engine

True. We may have jumped the gun on the FIND A NEW ENGINE NOW train. We were supposed to take my dad's Jeep on a trip later this week as well and all of a sudden it lost a cylinder. After some troubleshooting, I'm 75 percent sure we have a blown head gasket between #1 and the oil galley...
