I need schooling on YJ hard tops. I have an 88 YJ with a soft top. I have acquired a fiberglass hard top off of a CJ7. I have 2 questions.

First it appears that the soft top YJ's are not drilled at the windshield for the attaching hardware. I am sure I can match drill the windshield frame but would like to know what hardware was used. Self tapping screws, or drill and tapped or?

Second will the later all glass lift hatch fit in the earlier CJ7 hardtop.

Any guidance will be appreciated.

Soft top YJs are not drilled at the windshield frame. Factory used hex self tappers, I believe 5/16 head.

I'm not sure what all glass lift hatch you are referring to. Perhaps post a pic or two? My 94 hardtop is mostly glass but there is still a still a fiberglass border at the bottom if I remember right.

Thanks so much for the input. I suspected that the factory did use self tapping screws and I can duplicate that.
The hatch I am referring to is the one you describe. My hatch is metal and not in good shape. I think there might be more late model ones available and they don't rust.
I was kind hoping that someone might have done this all ready. I was hoping that when Jeep made the hatch change that they did not change the top itself. I'll find one with the late lift hatch and see if I can do some measuring.
Thanks again.
