YJ Wrangler 1991, 2 doors.
I previously owned a TJ, but never a YJ. I am ignorant about all this, so please don't be too harsh on me. I am a newbie.
I needed to replace my soft top from my 1991 YJ wrangler, 2 doors. I bought a hard top on market place, it has a windshield wiper in the back. I tried to put it on my Jeep but it does not seem to fit. Since I have never placed a top on a jeep, I was not sure why is not working. The person who sold it to me said it was for a YJ, but did not give me any more details. Cannot figure out whether the original tops came with a wiper or not. Also the back latch seems big and it makes it hard to close the back door. I am stuck and I do not know where else to look. Just sharing

The YJ tops that I am familiar with don’t have a latch on the rear glass, the tailgate holds it closed.

87-90 had a latch on the liftgate glass. The wiper comes on 1990 and wiper/sprayer 1991-1995 models. It was different in 1990 as just a wiper only, no sprayer, and then the final design of the wiper/sprayer implemented 1991-1995 stayed unchanged.

Post pics of it. Hard to offer any advice without pics. Any top from a CJ or YJ should fit your YJ, so I'm unsure why you are having fitment problems. The tubs are all the same dimensions.

Looks like a YJ top to me...as far as the glass latch, it appears to be oriented in the wrong position, I believe the handle should be horizontal when the glass is latched so that the tail gate closes properly...

It looks like the front could line up if you loosen up the side sport bars where they connect to the windshield frame and then push the frame forward and allow the top to fall into place. FYI, unless you put weatherstripping along the top of the windshield frame, it will leak every time it rains. Once the frame falls in place, tighten up the frame and install the bolts through the hardtop into the windshield frame. If the jeep has never had a softop installed before, you might need to drill holes in the windshield frame. Also yes, the rear glass latch should be horizontal when closed.

All this went down a couple of weeks ago, Helped a Bud of a Bud reinstall a Hardtop on a '97 TJ that he had repainted and replaced all the seals and it was on it when he bought it back in '01....
And we had a HELL of a time getting in back on in alignment...Had to trim off some of the gaskets and hold our mouths just right just to get the four bolt holes on each side to line up, And then getting the window gap even on both sides and getting it to seal even all around took about six hours of fidgeting and pulling off and putting back on to make it right.....
