Hi. Just bought my Dad's 1995 YJ, 4 cylinder. I tried to find the answer, but couldn't. I upgraded the headlights to LED (Quadratec) and need to figure out how to wire the daytime running lights to power when the ignition is on. Thanks so much, I'm learning, so not that great with wiring. I do know about fuse taps, etc., but can't seem to find the right wire.

I can't answer your question but find it interesting that they sell headlights with DLR. Do they come with a new female plug for each headlight?

Not really any great places to grab from under the hood. You can get ignition power from the fuse box under the dash using a fuse tap. You'll need to drill a hole or run the wire through the rubber boot in the center of the firewall.

You might want to run the power through a switch also so you have the ability to cut it off if you want to idle dark at night or something. Kind of annoying when you're forced to have a light on all the time, sometimes you don't want to be lighting up the night but if it's hard wired to ignition, then there's no choice.

Huh, I found it actually was an option on some YJ's Maybe canadian models?

Look for this page 8W - 40 - 2 in the Factory Service Manual link here. You may need a relay or something, I'm not sure.

For Canadian models only. It runs lower voltage power on the low beam circuit when you start driving and then a timed amount of time after you stop driving, shuts them off.

If you don’t have a Canadian YJ, then you’d need the front grille headlight harness for a Canadian YJ that has the pigtail for the DRL module, and you’d need the DRL module itself.

But, it doesn’t work with aftermarket headlights with a DRL circuit anyways because they don’t do so with low voltage on the low beam, they have a separate 12V circuit dedicated to being a DRL.
