I'm very new to jeeps and just got an 89 YJ. My speedometer and odometer work fine but all the other gauges do not.
I've looked up some videos on YouTube but they mainly consist of fixes for both. does anybody know about how to fix this issue or know of resources I could use to help me learn how to fix this issue?

Probably a power or grounding issue. The speedo/odo in an 89 (87-91) is all cable driven so it works okay. The others are all electric. I’d pull the clusters, check their ribbons for corrosion and then look at the wiring and trace it to see if you have a break or if someone maybe cut the power or ground wires for the clusters at some point.

Hi, I literally had the same issues this month, mainly with the wobbling fuel and temp gauges. I took the whole thing out and it was a truly sorry bit of kit. I took all the gauges off, took a wire wool sample and rubbed the plastic PCB back to shiny copper. Then took every screw and nut and did the same. Got everything looking shiny as I could and used contact cleaner for luck haha. Put it together again and wow, everything worked way better, almost zero wagging on the fuel gauge and a more accurate reading of the tank and a better heat reading and oil pressure reading. Probably a crud filled pcb. I also took the earth point in the engine bay to bare metal and wire wooled the connection and connector. It is totally much better across the dash now. Hope that helps.

Yup, power and grounding.
