A/C aftermarket cycles on and off every 30 to 40 seconds. Anyone else have this problem, if so what is the best fix.

The compressor cycles on and off? That's normal when pumping Freon through the system.

or are you saying the inside fan cycles on and off?

It cycles so fast that it doesn't have time to cool. I understand that it cycles but only when the set temperature is reached.

I never had functional AC in my YJ so I can’t say what is normal really, but in both my 2019 Nissans and 2021 Toyota, they have all cycles fast like that. They also blew very cold though. They would cycle even when the cab temp was not reached yet.

Not sure what’s normal for the YJ but I’ll dig into the service manual later and see what I can find.

Do you know if it’s hooked up through the PCM or is it just wired straight to the fuse box? There is a high/low pressure switch at the AC drier either way but the PCM way is a smarter system that has its own reasons for cycling the AC also and doesn’t rely on just the switch. The fuse box method will run the AC forever and only uses the high/low cutoff switch to manually shut off the compressor when it thinks it needs to due to pressure.

If you have the fuse box hookup, I would suggest checking your Freon pressure, maybe you’re low on Freon or something causing the short cycling. Or maybe high pressure instead.
