If I cut the seatbelt wire could I get a parasitic battery bleed?

Driver seat female side is busted.
Got a used seatbelt off eBay and was replacing. It was actually a rear seatbelt bc I 'figured' that was probably used less in general.

If I just cut the seatbelt wiring and install without the wire will that set up a battery bleed of some sort?

Ive had some bleeds in the past and just started disconnecting stuff(door lights/hardtop defroster, wiper and light etc) over the years which probably not the smartest thing but seems to have gone away. 👌

Thx.

Disclaimer: I'm terrible w circuits and I bet there is a simple answer to this.

Yeah I saw that post but it didn't mention anything specifically about battery bleeding so I wanted to try and hit that topic.

This is my daily driver(that's been garaged for years) at least for next few months and dont wanna get stuck bc of something preventable. Plus lots of things electrical are failing in the dash and probably wouldn't even get notified of the seatbelt buzzer.

Thx.

just unplug the seat belt wire. No, it won’t drain the battery. It’s a ground circuit and if the seat belt harness isn’t plugged in then the circuit can’t draw anything. If you want to clean up the looks then you can follow the wiring back into the body loom and cut it and heat shrink and tape it off.

The main thing is the ground for the buzzer/light runs out to the buckle and back. The buckle completes the circuit when NOT buckled. Buckling opens the circuit which cuts the light off. Simply unplugging the connector or cutting the wires also opens the circuit, so it’s the same effect as buckling.

Ok. Thx I think I understand the circuitry now.

I will prob cut it right where it comes out of the carpet and be done with it bc you cant see it at that point.
