I've decided to install a pair of LED ditch lights on the upper hinges of my YJ. There are all kinds of brackets available, but I'm curious how people are running the wiring. I like my wiring to be nice and neat if at all possible. Most set ups I've seen look like the wires are coming around and through the little gap between cowl and windshield frame into the interior of the Jeep, but I'm curious what people are doing once the wires are in the main cabin? Anybody have some experience they can share?

Geez..if you jeep is anything like the dozen or so of them I've had a roll of barbed wire shoved under the dash is neater that the factory wiring. There is plenty of room or run wires and zip tie them up to heater cables of something like that. Switch location is a personal preference IMO so a panel or holes in the dash are your call.

Most I've seen run the wires through the windshield cowl seal like you said, and then they dive down into the dash and are zip tied to whatever makes sense up until they reach the switch. I've seen a few people leave a lower windshield bolt out and run the wires through the hole and seal it with sealant. I'll probably go the cowl seal route when I do it.

Totally agree with you gilaguy! It's a total rats nest under there. A complete joke. I'm comfortable running the wires under the dash and in the engine compartment once I get there. I was mostly wondering about the 8-10in after the wires come through the cowl seal and how to get them under the dash. I think one option is entering behind the dash in that little area where the VIN plate is located.

You guys are funny 😂 I’m so fed up w the PO wiring along w the factory, that I ordered a custom dash and plan on rewiring everything!
This sounds like something I would totally do. I'm pretty ocd when it comes to wiring and the Jeep drives me crazy. So when I get a chance to wire something myself (like lights) I like to do it as clean as possible.
