Hi all.
I was tightening my intake manifold bolt and one at the front just spun in it's axis. Zero tightening up.
Pulled it out and it was rusty as heck.
Cleaned it up and it's cross threaded on the most important bit.
It says m8.8 on the head but I can't find any 8.8mm replacements.
Any suggestions for a straight replacement size? Thanks all!

8.8 is not the metric size it is the grade or class of hardness. As for the size, someone else will have to chime in on that.

Yeah, as said 8.8 is the strength of the bolt. My guess for the thread is M8-1.25x20mm by eyeballing it, but I would take it to the hardware store and hold it up to some other metric bolts for comparison. You can figure it out by holding it next to other bolts, it’ll match up to one of them if you hold the threads next to each other and make sure every thread lines up.

I would have thought it’s an SAE thread but maybe the 2.5 block was mostly metric. The 8.8 means metric, so…

quadratec has the bolts, also chilton list them in there book, i loaned my book out or i would look for you.

Woah! Thanks everyone, some great info. Never knew about the hardness part. Ok I'll import some from your side of the pond and see if they stop my crazy misfire! Cheers all
